Teach English and Travel the World

Teach English and Travel the World

In the current gloomy economic climate teaching abroad could be an exciting opportunity for you to experience living and working in another country. Thailand? Spain? Brazil? Dubai? The world is your oyster! From 11th January 2010 the Institute is running a course to teach English as a foreign language. The Cert TESOL course gives you an internationally recognized qualification.

There are thousands of colleges all over the world recruiting teachers. Many offer contracts that include accommodation and flights. Organisations like The British Council accredit a network of colleges worldwide and supervise quality. English teachers abroad get to know the local people and participate in their culture in a far deeper way than tourists on a 2-week break. You usually socialise with your students, getting invited to their homes and even their weddings, often making friends for life.

The Cert TESOL attracts people from all walks of life. Some are young people planning a gap-year after University. Others are planning to retire overseas, but wish to boost their pensions by teaching part-time. Many are considering a career change, either due to redundancy or frustration with desk-bound jobs.

Teaching English is a dynamic, creative and incredibly satisfying profession. You can experiment with different techniques, whether this involves singing, quizzes, playing snap or role-plays. You can even transfer skills you may have developed during your career or studies by specialising in areas such as Business English, or English for Travel and Tourism.

There are also plenty of opportunities to teach in the UK. There are huge numbers of foreign workers, often in low-paid jobs here due to the language barrier. However, many are highly qualified in their home country. You could help them to realize their potential and contribute more to society.

The Cert TESOL runs every Saturday and 3 evenings per week
