VISA REQUIREMENTS

Please note that we are not able to give specific advice to individual students about how to apply for a visa. You must visit the official UK government websites above and contact relevant organisations in your home country for assistance.

Students on full-time courses (15 hours per week) can receive letters for the Home Office but 90% attendance at these classes is necessary. If a student is absent without notifying The Institute, his or her visa may be cancelled. In such cases there will be no refund of fees. If a student is absent for more than a week because of illness, a medical certificate must be provided. Students paying by the course fees by cheque can only receive Home Office letters after the cheque has cleared (allow two weeks).

When you apply, you will need to provide the following information in order for us to issue a certificate of application status (CAS):

• Nationality
• Gender
• Country of birth
• Place & date of birth
• Address & telephone number in home country
• Email address
• Passport number, issue date & expiry date
• Next of kin name, address and relationship to you

In addition, you must provide a recognised certificate to prove your level of English, and to prove that your level is A2 (Pre-Intermediate) or above. If you do not have a recognised certificated English qualification, we recommend that you contact your nearest British Council office.

ACCOMMODATION

Staying with an English family is one of the best ways of practising your English and experiencing the British way of life. We offer a very good network of home stays which have been carefully vetted by The Institute. The cost of accommodation is approximately £115 per week for bed and breakfast. A one-off administration fee of £50 is charged for finding accommodation. We can also provide advice on hotels and renting self-catering accommodation to suit all budgets.

Transfers

Transfers from the airport can be arranged to make your arrival in the UK easier. Please let us know when you apply if you would us to arrange this for you. Prices vary from £35 to £50 for London airports
