Course Description: |
The Trinity Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CertTESOL ) is a TESOL or TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate designed for those with little or no experience of teaching English. It equips candidates with the basic skills and knowledge needed to take up a first post as an ESOL teacher. It gives an introduction to the theory and practice of contemporary English teaching and an insight into the challenges facing the learner and the role of the teacher.

GCSE English Grade C, or equivalent. Plus 2 A-levels, or equivalent, or a degree issued by an institution based in an English language speaking country. | What topics will we cover? The course is divided into input sessions on Monday evenings and Saturdays and teaching practice on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. There are also five hours of tutorials timetabled.

| By the end of this course what will I be able to do? Teach English to adults either in the UK or overseas in private or public colleges |

| Is the course accredited? Does it lead to a qualification? Yes, at Level 4. It leads to the Trinity College CertTESOL qualification. |

| How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class? There are lectures and workshops, but the key component is teaching practice. Be prepared to do a lot of work outside class, preparing lessons and writing assignments. |

| Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring? You will need to have access to a computer at home, and stationery such as files and ring binders, paper, card, scissors, blu tak, for preparing resources. |

| Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol? Yes: complete an application form to apply for an interview. |
