Arts, Design + Creative

The Institute offers a fantastic choice of Art, Design and Creative courses. Ranging from our accredited 3 term Art Foundation course which prepares students for entry to an art degree course to a selection of short summer courses, there is something to inspire everyone. As well as the traditional arts of painting and drawing, watercolour and life drawing, we have a number of fascinating Art History courses taught by experts in their field. If it is craft courses you are looking for, the choice is huge: Picture framing, Furniture Restoration, Bookbinding, Calligraphy, Jewellery Making and Embroidery to name but a few. There are a number of up-to-the-minute Fashion and Textile courses, as well as Interior Design and Decoration. We have Pottery Classes in our new state of the art Pottery Studio and a number of Sculpture classes from beginners to advanced level. New this year are Level 2 (First Diploma) and Level 3 (National Diploma) courses in Fashion & Textiles and some Therapeutic Art courses aimed at reducing stress through artistic creation. Foundation Show

Prefoundation Show 2009

Emma Reyes is half Chilean and a ballet dancer at the Donald macalpine School of Dancing.

Georgia Gowland, at 16 the youngest of the Prefoundation students this year, joined straight from East Barnet School where she shone at art. Sculpture has been her best subject here. Georgia will go on to St martins.

Hee nan, from South Korea where she had completed a fine art course, joined her sister in london and hopes to go on to St martins.

Miriam Waterman knew Barbara Jackson, the course leader, before enrolling, “But all the teachers are marvellous,” she says. miriam had long wanted to do an art course but “had to wait until her family were old enough to fend for themselves.”
